Used as a church in Byzantium era, Chora Museum is standing since 6th century at Edirnekapı district.
Besides its simple look from outside, inside of the church is quite ornamental. You can see the chronically images of Mariam and Jesus at the first two aisle at the entrance. Religious images can be seen at the appendix chapel. In addition to religious images you can see figures of palaces’ and eras’ leading characters.
After the conquest of Istanbul Chora used as a church for some time and then turned into a mosque in 1511.
