Bağdat Avenue

Local / Historical Markets

Bağdat Avenue (Bağdat Caddesi) is a high street on Istanbul's Asian side. Running for around 14 km from east to west in the Maltepe and Kadıköy, almost parallel to the Marmara Sea coastline. The
avenue's most important part is its one-way strip, almost the Asian counterpart of Istiklal Avenue. These two main streets are very much alike in their glamour, business and liveliness.

The one-way part of the avenue is lined with small shopping malls, department stores, glamorous boutiques, as well as international and local restaurants, cafes, and much more. Most of the shops are open all days of the week, and the avenue can be considered to be a large scale open-air shopping mall.

In summertime and on weekends, the avenue's sidewalks are filled with people window-shopping and young people hanging out. You can enjoy a sunny afternoon or a great evening in the area, with an elegant dinner, followed by a movie or some ice-cream.

You can stay at Istanbul Asian Side hotels to fully experience the asian side of Istanbul. Check out the easy and fast way to access the Bagdat Avenue from IstanbulFind Istanbul Transportation Map
